Trauma can bring life to a standstill.
When there are Multiple and Prolonged incidents of Trauma in your life, it can feel like there’s no hope of ever healing, like it’s all too much. I’m here to tell you that healing is possible.
M was raised by a toxic Mother who was Narcissistic and would get into rages at the drop of a hat. M also experienced some sexual abuse at the hands of a family friend.
M felt ‘shut down’ as a person and as a sexual being for many years.

Then, M entered therapy with me.
By having a safe space to explore their history together and define what they want their future to look like, M became calmer in their day-to-day life. They realized they felt most comfortable as gender fluid and bisexual and were able to come out to friends as such.
M started to talk about what it was like for them as a small child to deal with the terrifying specter of their Mother raging at them. Being able to talk about and feel those feelings helped M to empty the warehouse of feelings they were carrying around with them.
They felt lighter and at times even happy. I helped M talk about the sexual abuse at a pace that felt safe to them. At times, we would leave it for weeks and then revisit it when M felt safe to do so.
M was eventually able to process all the conflicting feelings surrounding those events, including confusion, fear, the desire for attention, but not the experience, feelings related to the secrecy, and anger. This is all delicate work that we did together, and you can do it too.
